Basketball WA is excited to announce the return of the Winter Classic in 2026. The mid-season tournament will be back this year to once again offer an exciting competitive opportunity for WABL teams and Country Associations.

Event Details:
The 2026 Winter Classic will be held over the weekend of Saturday, 18 July and Sunday, 19 July, across three of the state’s premier basketball venues:

• Bendat Basketball Centre
• Warwick Stadium
• Willetton Stadium

Age Groups & Nominations:
Basketball WA invites WABL teams and Country Associations to nominate for the following age groups:

• Under 12s – Willetton
• Under 14s – Bendat
• Under 16s – Warwick

Key Information:

• Only existing WABL teams may enter the tournament.
• Country Associations are eligible to nominate two teams per age group.
• WABL teams will be entered into divisions based on their ladder standings at the conclusion of Week 7, with consideration for Country Association entries as determined by BWA.
• BWA aims to run six (6) team divisions, with each team playing every other team once, and the top 2 teams playing off in the Grand Final.
