Mental Health Awareness Round

This Sunday, July 21st is the Mental Health Awareness Round for the WABL competition.

Through this round, we aim to increase the awareness of not only the importance of looking after your own mental health but also checking in on others.

Mental Health Awareness Round Objectives

  • Promoting mental health and wellbeing;
  • De-stigmatising mental health issues.

Key Messages

  • Check in on a mate, or someone you care about if they’re not going so well;
  • Talking and listening are powerful; and
  • Mental health issues can affect anyone. It may be difficult at first but talking can help.

WABL Initiatives

  • All Player, Coaches and Referees to wear navy blue armbands around bicep during all games;
  • Mental Health Awareness workshops planned for mid-August 2019
  • Promoting key messages through social media channels.

Basketball WA has teamed up with Youth Focus, The Happiness Co and A Stitch in Time, to assist with promoting ‘Mental Health Awareness Round’ and its key messages. We ask all our Clubs to please get behind these initiatives and help promote the key messages during this week’s WABL games.
